About Me

This blog is about nine years old. The name originates from percussion rudiments, but also a line in a poem that I wrote, shown here.  I was born and raised in a family of musicians, but chose a career in science.  There is both a sense of order and curiosity in that.    I write to appeal to the music that is in my head, mostly poetry …though occasionally I might drift into other forms on a whim.

I have managed to publish several poems and I put together a chapter-book in early 2015.  You can get it here http://www.amazon.com/Accidental-Songs-J-R-Shaw/dp/1508539804/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425900386&sr=8-1&keywords=accidental+songs

I  find that I write because I want to, and I’m earnest in my efforts to make my poetry accessible.  I think the interaction between reader/poem/poet is valuable. I believe that my words need a home – and this is the best place I’ve found so far.

I appreciate your comments and feedback about my poems and other writing.

I am also relatively new to blogging–about two years off and on. I guess It goes to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks. 🙂
And I love your banner…unique and eye catching.

Thanks for visiting. Writing for me has been a growing experience. I’m sometimes very motivated, other times just reflective…but writing here just seems the right thing to do. I hope you’ll visit again. John

John, there’s a blog called Poets’ Corner that may interest you. I can’t copy and paste on the device I’m using now, but there’s a pic of it on my sidebar one can click on and got there. I joined a couple of days ago.
